Check out our blog How To Make Movie Theatre Popcorn
Kernels generally get divided between “white” and “yellow” varieties. White popcorn has neutral taste, which makes it excellent for flavourings and seasonings, while yellow has a more nutty taste.
As well, you may see popcorn described as “hulless”. This implies that there will be less of the hard hulls in your popcorn bowl. If you can’t stand picking hulls from your teeth, try a hulless variety. Generally, the smaller the kernel, the thinner the hull and the fewer hulls you will get. Gourmet White, Gourmet Red, Lady Finger, Vintage Red, are all hulless varieties.
However, if you’re looking for a bigger popcorn, with big flavour, try Gourmet Yellow (the kind they use in theatres), Gourmet Mushroom "Brains" (the kind they use for caramel corn), or Organic Yellow (same as Gourmet Yellow, but certified organic).
No! The only ingredient in our kernels is "popcorn"! All popcorn kernels are non-GMO, regardless of if they are ours or another companies.
Popcorn is, at least for now, non-GMO. When people read about, or voice concerns about GMO-corn, it’s likely field corn, waxy corn, or sweet corn.
Some popcorn brands started putting "Non-GMO" on their labels to imply that competing popcorn may have GMO's, but this is misleading. Unfortunatly we had to follow suit to avoid uncertainty.
All popcorn is non-GMO.
Yes. Our suppliers do not manufacture any other products that would allow for possible cross-contamination either.
Great question!

It depends on which Whirley Pop you purchase! The "original" Whirley Pop comes with an aluminium pot which does not work on induction stoves.
However, there is now a new Whirley Pop which has a stainless steel pot which is designed for induction stoves, as well heavier duty use! Check it out here.
The Whirley Pop has a 25 year warranty on all mechanical parts. There is a 90 day warranty on the pot and all wooden parts. There is no set formula as people have different tastes, but my recommendation would be to pop a batch with 1/2 teaspoon of Flavacol in the popper. After it pops you can taste it and see if it has the amount of flavour you are looking for. You can then add a little more, or a little less on your next batch!
Please see our BLOG article on Flavacol here!
